RE: Heating the truck camper

You might save a small amount of propane but you will really stress your batteries,
I don't understand this response???? Why will it stress the batteries???...Brian
If you stay very long and continually move the slide it will draw quite a bit of current. Thus stress the battery.

RE: extended cab or crew cab

I agree the CC give much more room. Access is also better. The extra foot of length nakes little differance. The ride in a CC is much better. I can't remember what my super cab weighed but it is worth the differance. Mine being a dually does make parking a problem in crowded parking lots.

RE: Batteries Stolen. How do you protect?

Use metal straps to secure the batteries in place with bolts that require a special key to put in or our. Put a metal strap over the battery box to prevent the top from being removed. Good luck

If possible lub the turbo bearings with hi temp lube. They could be binding.

RE: Broken Laptop Screen

Call HP and see if you can send it to the factory. In the computer world 2 years is old.

RE: LP On or Off

Unless your are running the furnace, water heater, or fridge on gas turn it off. It only takes a short time to purge the lines of air if there is any by turning on the stove burners.

RE: leaking roof

Get out your garden hose and blast the area around the vent for about 10 minutes and see if the leak occurs. Then either leave it or fix it. You don't need to wait for rain. If you can't use a garden hose go to a car wash. Good luck.

RE: Replacing trailer shocks

Usually the replacement of shocks is a two or three bolt operation. Usually it is not necessary to use any jacks. Good luck

RE: 92 Jayco 27' Designer

The RV dealer should winterize the unit. He should also check the caulking and encure that it is in good shape. You might want to give it a good spray down with a hose to check for any leaks.

RE: Storing Household Goods

Storage charges will eat up any value the household goods have. Sell them as quick as possible and get rid of the storage space. I had stored my mothers things when she had go go to a care facility. We only used the storage for a couple of months but the value of her things would have been gone soon.

RE: Need to replace leaf springs on Starcraft 13RT

The phone book should have a listing under auto parts for springs. I would guess that you are loaded heavy on the right side. A trip to a scale may be in order. I would just increase the number of leaves by one. That should work fine.

RE: Front axle wt. + rear axle equal total weight?

Does the front + rear axles always add up to the total? If this is the case would it mean that the Center of Gravity (CG) is exactly equal between the wheelbase?
Since the axle weight is something that should not be exceeded it makes sense that the combination is total weight.
The center of gravity is probably more toward the rear and between the bottom of the truck and the top of the cab.

RE: Big Rig (Tractor) towing question

As long as the pin is locked into the hitch correctly and the is pin box contack all the way around it your friend should be Ok. It does not require a great deal of contact area. Adding a 1/4" plate may make it impossible to get a good connection.

You need to include the furnace manufacturer and model. A call to the manufacturer may get you accurate information faster than the forum. Good luck.

RE: coachmen freedom express FX31IS

The manufacturer's info plate should have a built date. A unit used at Datona should not be considered new. Be careful of the taxes between states. Also the model number may not indicate tje true length. Measure the unit and if possible take it to a scale before buying. It might be possible to check the price using nadaguides.com Good luck.
